Branch Art (or more decorating with sticks)

The Jacaranda trees that line our street are a constant inspiration.
Especially when a curvy, twiggy branch appears as if by magic in my front yard.
And when the latest Pottery Barn Kids catalog appears as if by magic in my mailbox (see page 9).

When the stars align like that, you have to pay attention.

And make branch art.

Step 1: spray paint that baby.

Step 2: cut out paper leaves.

Step 3: hot glue.

Step 4: hang it.

Step 5: sit back and admire.

Oooh... Ahhh...

magical.

  1. Laura ~ this 'parallel lives' thing is getting too creepy. I am a total gonner for our street Jacaranda branches as well! As I write, I have some branches waiting for my attention in the other room. I am using them as a display for a little family dessert celebration after the dedication tomorrow. Too funny ~

p.s. Your branch looks fabulous :)

  4. You sound like my mother and my son. I'm so glad her love for nature and bringing it inside was passed down, because he didn't get it from me. At least I wouldn't think to use it as decoration, maybe just pin it down and add a label like a scientist would:). So glad there are creative artists in the world like all of you!

  10. I love this idea! I used flower petals on my faux branches but I love how yours looks with the leaves - very simple and clean and refreshing, as the commenter above me said. I found your blog at Between Naps on the Front Porch. You have such great ideas and I'm your newest follower! I'd love it if you'd follow me back: http://stillwaterstory.blogspot.com/

  12. Thank you for the inspiration! I just spray painted a branch for my daughter's room to go above her new big girl bed. Can I ask you how you adhered or hung it on the wall?

Also, can you please share the paint color that you used in your dining room. I think turquiose is the new neutral!
